Born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu, and after a lifetime of surfing, Flynn Novak has developed Ocean knowledge in Hawaii and around the world. Flynn has been traveling the world since age 5 and traveling the world for surfing since age 15. He started surfing professionally aged 18, and during his 17 year career has competed full time in WQS for 4 years along with 3 WCT Pipeline Masters. Flynn created, perfected, and consistently completed surfing’s first backflip and is referred to as the only ‘Pipeline Specialist’ amongst the surf industry. Flynn prides himself on creating a solid foundation of health: physically, mentally and emotionally with the ability to breakdown simplify, explain and show proper technique in basic fundamentals, as well as advanced manoeuvres. Aside from being a sponsored athlete, Flynn has worked internally for surfing magazines (Transworld, Surfing, SURFER, freesurf), and internally for companies (No Fear, Pipeline Posse, Matuse wetsuits, Under Armour). He is heavily involved in the understanding of his surfboard designs and construction. Through extensive research and development, he now knows what design details and combinations are needed for optimal performance in both small-wave and big-wave surfboards.
