The Château de Fontainebleau, located 55km southeast of the centre of Paris is one of the largest French royal chateaux. The medieval castle and subsequent palace served as a residence for the French Monarchs from Louis VII to Napoleon III. Nestled in the heart of 130 acres of parkland, Fontainebleau is the only royal and imperial chateau to have been continuously inhabited for seven centuries.
