Laura Williamson

Belfast, UK

I have been doing Judo from the age of 5 and have represented Northern Ireland at National/International level, holding various titles. I lead with Judo as it has helped me develop multiple skills whilst fueling my passion for nutrition. In addition to this I am an Anti-Doping Educator for UK Anti-Doping, representing the Northern Ireland Judo Federation. As part of this role I travel to various sports events; grass roots to elite level, and present workshops such as that of “100% Me” to educate and inform athletes on anti-doping the part it has to play in sport, a crucial element in nutrition. I attended university and completed my bachelors in sport performance, becoming educated in the sports industry and performance of athletes, gaining expertise on how to approach, analyze and improve performance from many different angles; coaching, performance analysis, psychology, nutrition etc. I learnt that nutrition is something that I am highly passionate about, as it sparked my interest immediately, going on to complete my masters in nutrition. The manner in which nutrition can contribute to health, performance and every aspect of daily life ignited a passion within me. I am intrigued by this as it allows me to apply both my knowledge from this industry and experience working with a wide range of people and environments in the professional environment, and I am eagerly anticipating spreading my knowledge and working with others (teams and individuals) both within the sporting environment and the general population, in the field of sport, exercise and nutrition. I work as an independent nutritionist as I’m registered with the British dietetic association, I write plans and assist individuals with bespoke nutrition goals from sport specific and weight loss to dietary intolerances and lifestyle changes. With my experience both as an athlete and a practitioner I can relate and advise individuals along all scopes of the spectrum.
