I'm Laurence Gray, I'm 24 years old and I'm from the South of England. I started skiing when I was 5 years old and instantly fell in love with the sport, I grew up skiing on dry slopes in the UK and then eventually went on yearly family ski holidays to France and Austria. I think skiing is the best sport, I love the freedom and satisfaction it gives me and I think it is a sport for everyone, no matter how fast or slow, confident or not I believe everyone can find enjoyment in skiing. There is no better feeling than waking up in the mountains getting dressed and planning the days skiing over breakfast before heading down to the boot room and then taking the first lift of the day, it really never gets old. Just as important as skiing for myself is coaching others and showing them how to enjoy skiing. I enjoy teaching all levels of skier from absolute beginners to experienced skiers looking to try out slightly different aspects of the sport such as freestlye and freeride. Each lesson and each client pose a different challenge to myself and no two are the same, I enjoy this aspect of coaching as it keeps me constantly learning and adapting to suit different situations, I like to understand what each client expects from their skiing and what they would like to achieve to become more skilled, more confident or to just feel safer on the slopes. I always take my time at the end of each session to give a debrief and some goals and tools clients can use themselves to continue their progress without me present, this can give them a real sense of value and personal achievement. As well as traditional methods of coaching such as drills and exercises i like to use different methods of coaching such as video analysis, sensations and feelings during skiing and giving the learner the chance to try and self remedy their skiing to further develop their understanding.
